Los Alamitos Ballet School (LABS) will train, coach and mentor young dancers to achieve their highest potential. Our state of the art facility and world class faculty will teach a rigorous, disciplined, but joyful curriculum. This training will foster a love for the performing arts and will prepare them for a professional career in dance and any other field they wish to pursue. The mission of Los Alamitos Ballet is to literally "Raise the Barre" for all children who step through our doors.

The company provides excellent classical and Neo classical ballet training to Preparatory and Pre Professional level students in a welcoming and nurturing environment. Students train with world renowned faculty in an atmosphere that promotes artistic excellence and strong technique while gaining the building blocks for success, whether choosing a career in dance or in another field.

New students are welcome to schedule a tour of the facility and a free trial class.

DIVISIONS

  • Creative Movement & Pre-Ballet

These 45 to 60 min classes are designed for children 2 to 8 years of age and taught in a fun, safe, and nurturing manner. They will learn the fundamental positions of ballet, while developing motor skills, enhancing communication skills, musicality, and will propel their imaginations to great heights.

  • Preparatory

Preparatory division students between the ages of 8-12 years will begin their formal training of ballet at these Levels. We recommend a minimum of two 60 min ballet classes. These classes are taught in a more structured class environment and will strengthen the barre and center work taught in the previous division.

  • Pre-Professional

Pre-Professional students will be challenged to hone their technique, develop greater artistry and movement vocabulary. We recommend three to four 90 min ballet classes along with two pointe classes and variations at this level to further develop the fundamentals of ballet technique, body awareness, and flexibility. Additionally, students can take contemporary classes, dance conditioning, and yoga. Pas de Deux will also be introduced by invitation for LABT company members.

All dancers in the Los Alamitos Ballet School will be able to perform twice a year in a holiday recital performance in December and in the end of year recital in June. These performances will be open for participation to all LABS students enrolled and taking class at least once a week.

Choreography will be taught by the instructor during class time in the weeks leading up to the show for each designated level/class participating in the performance. A production performance fee will apply for each student at the time of open registration. Participation in the show is voluntary and not mandatory for enrollment in weekly classes. *However, participation is a privilege and the Artistic Directors and faculty reserve the right to pull a student from a performance for any violations of the student code of conduct.

It is the policy of Los Alamitos Ballet School that LABS students who are concurrently attending other ballet studios are not eligible to perform at our recitals and performances.
